Meet Brianna Mottey
A multi-disciplinary artist, writer, and producer channeling her creativity through the power of storytelling to uplift voices that have been historically marginalized and inspire healing narratives towards self-awareness and collective liberation. Her creative practice spans film, photography, poetry, and live event production with each medium becoming a vessel for cultural connection and spiritual affirmation.
Holding a BFA in Writing for Film, Television, and Emerging Media from Ithaca College, along with her background as co-founder and head of development at Lucid Village Productions, Brianna offers a distinct visual and narrative sensibility to her work, helping to shape the stories of a new generation with intention and imaginative impact.
Beyond her production work, Brianna is deeply committed to curating spaces that amplify the voices of underrepresented storytellers. She is the visionary behind Portals to Poetry, a Black-owned, women-led platform that reimagines literary and creative spaces through a womanist lens. Through this work, she blends her love of writing with a radical commitment to cultural preservation and disruption of the status quo, further fueling her mission as the creative director and producer of Portals’ Poetry Jam — an immersive, participatory experiences that invite people from all walks of life into poetic dialogue and community.
Born and raised in the vibrant landscape of Chicago as a Ghanian-American, Brianna proudly represents the communities that have shaped her voice and visions as the root of her courage and creative expression. With this foundation, her creativity knows no limits and invites you to imagine and build liberatory futures alongside her.
